Outline
Chris has been teaching for about 2 years, mainly to secondary school children. Because he also works full time, places learning with him are limited.
Syllabus
Chris's teaching emphasises the need to develop technique and solid foundations before progression to the more noticeable flashy elements of drumming. That's why the first terms work is mainly on the snare drum which forms the basis of everything after it. After that kit work is bought in focussing on developing limb independence and a rhythmical vocabulary from the different areas of music.
Practice
Practicing is obviously the best way to improve and Chris recommends that his students practice at least 3 times a week for half an hour.
Equipment
The equipment needed to learn is not extensive. In the first instance all that is needed is a pair of sticks and a practice pad . Access to a drum kit will be needed as the student progresses on to study the kit. (Chris can advise on this if necessary)
Cost
Each lesson is 45 minutes. Lessons are in 3 blocks of 10 per year matching the school calendar.
Per Lesson: £15
Per Block: £135 (1 lesson free)
Per Year: £390 (4 lessons free)
There is also the additional expense of teaching materials including books and manuscript paper.
